5 Ways to Make
Mushroom Coffee
From your morning French press to a creamy mocha — we've got you covered.
Mushroom coffee combines the bold, familiar flavors of a great roast with the natural benefits of functional mushrooms like Lion's Mane, Chaga, and Reishi. Whether you're brand new to it or looking to switch up your routine, these five recipes make every cup an experience worth savoring.
This recipe works beautifully with our Promise Roast Co. Mushroom Coffee — ground fresh and ready to brew.
Five Perfect Cups
French Press Mushroom Coffee
The gold standard. Rich, full-bodied, and extracts the most benefits.
The French Press uses immersion brewing — meaning your grounds steep fully in water — which extracts more of the beneficial compounds from the mushrooms than any other method. It's the best way to get the most out of every scoop of Promise Roast Co. mushroom coffee.
- 15g mushroom coffee
- 250ml filtered water (just off boil)
- Honey or maple syrup to taste
- Optional: splash of oat milk
- Add 15g of mushroom coffee to your French Press.
- Pour 250ml of hot filtered water (about 200°F — just off the boil).
- Stir gently, place the lid on, and let steep for 4 minutes.
- Press slowly and pour immediately. Sweeten to taste and enjoy.
Mushroom Coffee Latte
Smooth, creamy, and easy to customize to your taste.
The crowd favorite. Frothed oat or almond milk tames the earthiness perfectly, and a pinch of cinnamon adds a warm, comforting finish. Great for those just getting started with mushroom coffee.
- 1–2 tbsp mushroom coffee
- 1 cup hot water or brewed coffee
- ½ cup oat or almond milk (frothed)
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Brew your mushroom coffee with hot water as normal.
- Froth your milk of choice until foamy.
- Pour the frothed milk over your coffee.
- Drizzle honey, dust with cinnamon, and serve immediately.
Mushroom Coffee Mocha
For chocolate lovers — and a great way to introduce skeptics.
Cacao powder pairs beautifully with the earthy depth of mushroom coffee, creating a rich, mocha-style drink that feels like an indulgence but is actually full of antioxidants. Blend it for a café-style frothy finish.
- 1 cup brewed mushroom coffee
- 1 tsp cacao powder
- ½ cup oat or almond milk
- 1 tsp honey
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Brew your mushroom coffee and pour into a blender.
- Add cacao powder, honey, and cinnamon.
- Heat your milk separately until steaming, then add to blender.
- Blend on medium-low for about 1 minute until frothy. Pour and enjoy.
Iced Mushroom Coffee
Perfect for warm mornings — especially here in Florida.
Brew it strong, let it cool, and pour over ice. The cold temperature mellows the earthiness even further, making this one of the most approachable ways to enjoy mushroom coffee for the first time.
- 1 cup brewed mushroom coffee (cooled)
- Handful of ice
- ¼ cup coconut or oat milk
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- Brew your mushroom coffee strong and let it cool to room temp (or refrigerate overnight).
- Fill a glass with ice and pour the cooled coffee over it.
- Add your milk of choice and maple syrup.
- Stir gently and sip. Add more ice if needed.
Mushroom Coffee Smoothie
Breakfast and your morning brew in one powerful glass.
Mushroom coffee blends surprisingly well into smoothies — the banana and almond butter balance the earthiness perfectly while adding protein and natural energy. Great for busy mornings when you need both breakfast and coffee in one go.
- 1 cup brewed mushroom coffee (cooled)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tsp cacao powder
- ½ cup almond milk
- Brew your mushroom coffee strong and allow it to cool completely (or use cold brew).
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
- Blend until completely smooth — about 45 seconds.
- Pour, drink immediately, and go conquer your morning.
